I. Teaching aims:

Knowledge aims:

Words and phrases: southern, Spanish, recognize, northwestern,

southwestern, play a part, believe it or not…;

Master the key sentence structures;

Ability aims:

Develop the students’ reading skills

(3)Emotional aims::

Enable the student to try to use standard English and Chinese Putonghua in their daily life by reading this passage;

II. Teaching Important Points:

Develop the students’ reading skills by reading;

III. Teaching Difficult Points:

To grasp the important phrases and understand key sentences;

IV.Teaching methods

1. Task-based teaching and learning,

2. Activity-based teaching (individual work, pair work and group work).

3. Discussion

V Teaching Aids:

Multimedia, blackboard and textbook.

VI Teaching procedure:

Step1 Warming up:

Enjoy a Chinese poem《卧春》。And first let one student read it in Chinese Putonghua, then let the other student read it in Baoji Dialect. And compare;

Step2 Check the preview work.

Let students write the new words on the blackboard, and choose a student as a little teacher to help the teacher check and teach the other students how to read new words in this period;

Step3 Listening.

Before listening, look through the question quickly;

While listening, try to grasp the topic sentence in the text;
