Analysis of Teaching Material

The topic of this text is The United Kingdom. It includes its historical development, geography and the importance of culture and places of interest. Therefore the passage can give the students a full understanding of the Untied Kingdom, making them understand English easily.



教学目标

The Main Task:

1.?Get?the?students?to?know?the?information?about?the?United?Kingdom.?

2.?Encourage?the?students?to?talk?out?what?they?know?about?the?UK?.?

3.?Improving?Ss’?reading?skills?such?as?scanning,?skimming,?carefully?reading.

Teaching Aims:

In this period, first the students will learn the history and geography of the UK. Second, make the students improve the reading skills.



教学重难点

1.The students are able to understand the passage’s main idea and structure(重点)

2.The students should express their ideas freely and retell the text.

Step 1 Warming up

1.Divide the students into four groups and each student has a number. Then the teacher calls the number and the students who has the same number in different groups will answer the question.

2.Before class, students are asked to speak out the words’Chinese meanings.

Step 2 Lead in

Questions: What do you think of when we speak of the UK?

Show some pictures about the UK and encourage them to speak them out in English.

Do a quiz.

Step 3 Pre-reading

To help students strengthen the reading skills.
