Teaching procedures
Step 1 : Warming up and lead in
Review the location words: east,west, north, south.
Point to the west!
Do and say !
Step 2 : Presentation
1. Sentences
(1)Have students watch a picture of the West Lake. ( Teach the sentences “ Where is the West Lake ? ” )
(2)Look at the map of China and find Hangzhou. ( Teach the sentence “ It’s in the east of China.” )
(3)Ask and answer
(4)Pair work
Practice the sentence pattern “ - Where is ... ? - It’s in the east/west/south/north of ...”
2. Dialogue
(1)Show a big map of the US.
T: What a big map of the US ! Where’s New York? Can you find ?
Ss:It’s in the east.
T: What about San Francisco ? Where is it ?
Ss:It’s in the west.
