Knowledge objectives
Let students have an understanding of UK’s formation, England’s geographical division, London’s cultural importance.
Ability objectives
Develop the students' five basic reading skills. (prediction ,skimming, scanning, generalization and summary)
Emotion objectives
Stimulate students’ interest to further explore the history of British culture and places of interest.
Cultural awareness
Form the Ss’ consciousness of cross-culture communication

Teacher starts the topic from the latest news about Prince William and China, which can help them focus on the title and arouse their curiosity about the new passage .
