1. Analysis of the teaching material
The teaching material is selected from Unit 9 from Go for it! Book9. The reading material is about Abing and his music. It opens the door for students to Chinese traditional art. As a reading class, it can also develop student’s reading and writing skills.
2. Analysis of the students
Students in grade 9 have some basic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Most students are active and interested in learning English. However, they need reading strategies for better understanding and try to get the underlying value and spirit behind the text.
3. Teaching objectives
Language abilities
Learn new words : sense, sadness, reflect, perform, master, praise, recall, painful, and affixation for word formation;
Consolidate relative clauses with that, who and which;
Get main ideas and note supporting details.

Go on learning to express preferences for literature and art and improve aesthetic taste.
Get to know that although life can be hard sometimes, we should be brave and live it to the fullest.

Learn to use their imagination and train logical thinking.
Learning abilities
Practice using reading strategies, such as predicting, skimming and scanning.
Improve comprehensive language competence through independent-exploration, communication and cooperation.
