Students Analysis:

From classroom observations, we can find the main features of the Ss we are going to teach:

The basics of the class: There are 70 students in the class and they are organized in 4 big groups in the classroom.

The class routine: The class is noisy. Some students sleep or chat. The students understand the teacher main by language and pictures on PPT. The teacher impresses the students by repetition and marking keywords red. And sometimes the teacher makes Chinese explanations.

The classroom interaction: The teacher asks questions to the whole class. Some students speak actively and some keep quiet. The students do not have opportunities to practice language interactively.

The language proficiency: About 60% of the students are able to answer the questions. The teacher asks the questions repetitively especially the key sentence structures like “Is there ...” “Where is it?”.

The learning strategies: Some students are used to taking notes. They do not have opportunities to do group work.

The main problem of the class: The students lack in motivation. Some of them are sleeping and chatting because the class is boring. Ss need the opportunities to use the language they learn in the lesson for communicative purpose.
