2.Have a better understanding of the writing style and layout of expository writing
3. Develop critical and creative thinking by discussing the open-ended questions;
4. Raise their awareness of environmental protection.
教学重难点
The students may have difficulty in using key words to summarize the text as well as voicing their own opinions and giving reasons.

StepⅠ Lead-in (导入)
1. Share a video of Yu Guangzhong reading aloud his poem “Aunt Ice, Aunt Snow”.
2. Pose the questions: What(feeling) did the poet try to convey in the poem? What do you think about global warming?
3. Show the two graphs on Page 26 and guide the students to get information (the rise of temperature and carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere over the years) from the graphs; then ask the questions: Is there a link between the rising temperature and the increasing carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere? And how does this situation come about?
StepⅡ Students’ self-learning (学生自主探究)
1. 10 mins for students to read the passage and try their best to answer the following questions
①. Who wrote the magazine article? What is the name of the magazine?

教学反思
本节课是一节阅读课,学生对全球变暖的话题相对熟悉。整体来说,内容设置由浅入深,层层递进,关注到了不同程度的学生,使得不同程度的学生在本节课都能有所收获,而且在本节课快结束时,用讨论收尾,既练习了学生的口语,又对课下的作业作好了铺垫,而且又对学生的写作能力进行了训练。
总之,这节课我以学生为主体,任务型教学为主线,分层设计问题,在课堂上调动起了学生学习英语的积极性,让学生由浅入深的阅读文章,对阅读技能进行了训练,基本达到了预期目标,实现了教学目标。
